The Floor Inkle loom, is light weight enough to be portable, yet it is extremely sturdy. It has two 3-inch long, adjustable slides one on the extension arm and one on the back leg brace. This gives you more flexibility when you have a long warp or when using it for a short warp to weave. This loom will make a warp 7-1/4 yards in length. The Floor inkle loom is 36 inches tall with a arm length of 28 inches. It is just the right height to pull up close while in a comfortable chair. The dowels are 5-1/2 inches long for maximum weaving width. The loom is made of Hardwood Maple and the dowels are Oak. All items we make have a hand rubbed clear wax finish to let the beauty of the wood show through. Please note: This is a special order item, meaning we make them as they're ordered. We have been making a mini inkle loom for several years and have decided to make them in different sizes...so we now have 3 sizes for the table looms.
It is still small and extremely portable,
it will fit into most travel bags and still have room for yarns, scissors, and shuttles.
They will have a small shed area, I use a small piece of flat wood or a extra shuttle to hold the shed open. This allows me to have both hands
free to manipulate the weave.
The minid inkle will hold a warp of about 45 inches with a total weaving length of 49 inches with 4 inches of waste. The oak pegs are 3-1/4 inches
long and gives you a weaving width of about 2-1/2 inches. This little loom is 13 inches long, 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide. It is made of
laminated Maple which is stronger then regular plank woods. Laminated wood is made of strips of wood glued, heated, and pressed back together forming
a tight strong wood that will last a long time. This is not the same as plywood which is strips of a cheaper quality wood glued together without the
heat bonding making it prone to separating and coming apart.
We have added oak pegs for strength and durability. There is a tension bar in the front of the loom for easier use and function.
I have made shoestrings, book marks, and hat bands on my little inkle. It comes with a belt shuttle and warping directions on the bottom of the loom,
so you don't lose them. :) There are many good inkle weaving books out there and information to be found on the internet for more directions and patterns.
